Tax compliance is not optional in South Africa! Therefore, as you prepare to close for the year, it is important that you bear in mind that SARS deadlines do not go on holiday during the festive seasons.

30 December 2024 – Excise duty payments.
31 December 2024 – CIT Provisional Tax Payments.
VAT electronic submissions and payments.
07 January 2025 – PAYE submissions and payments.
20 January 2025 – End of Filing Season 2024 for Provisional taxpayers and Trusts - SARS DEBT
As much as your tax debt may be the last item on your Christmas list, it’s the first item on SARS’ naughty list. Ignoring your dues to SARS may give you some December spending but it is certainly not the best financial decision in the long run.
Very important to note the following:
If you load a payment and approve the payment for a future date:
- The amount will still reflect on your bank balance, but it will NOT be available.
- On the date the amount is paid over to SARS your instant payment limited will be reduced with the SARS payment for that specific date.

- SARS Contact Centre on 0800 00 7277 between 09:00 to 16:30.
- International Callers may contact SARS Contact Centre on +27 11 602 2093 between 09:00 to 16:30 South African local time.
- Email deferred arrangements, debt queries, payment requests, compromise requests and correspondence to contactus@sars.gov.za.
- Email business rescue correspondence or notices in terms of section 155 of the Companies Act to businessrescue@sars.gov.za.
If you keep to the SARS deadlines and due dates even in this festive season, you can focus on getting some well-earned rest.
