Dawie matriculated at Sentraal High School in Bloemfontein. He studied at the University of Bloemfontein where he achieved a B Compt Hons degree and then completed his learnership with Brink Roos & Du Toit in Bloemfontein. Dawie also has a degree in Theology. He is currently a member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA), Associate General Accountant (SA); the South-African Institute of Tax Practitioners (SAIT), The Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA) and South African Institute of Business Accountants (SAIBA). He is married to Elri and they have three sons.
